Who it's for
Individuals, families, trusts and foundations with significant assets who want a portfolio built for them specifically, and a direct line to the people making the decisions.
How we manage your portfolio
- A written plan first. We start with an Investment Policy Statement that records your goals, time horizon, income needs, tolerance for risk and any constraints, such as holdings you want to keep.
- Individual securities, managed in-house. You own the stocks and bonds directly, so you can see exactly what you hold. Direct ownership also lets us manage taxes position by position, for example by realizing losses to offset gains.
- Coordinated with the rest of your plan. Cash needs, tax planning, estate plans and charitable goals all shape how the portfolio is invested.
- Monitored and reported. We review positions and allocation continuously, rebalance when needed and report results through your consolidated reporting.
How we're paid
Commons Capital is fee-based and offers no proprietary products, so we have no incentive to favor one investment over another. We select investments solely on their merits. Our fees are set out in our Form ADV Part 2A, available on our Legal & Compliance page.
Common questions
Do you use mutual funds or ETFs?
Rarely. We invest directly in individual securities. In the uncommon case where a direct investment isn't practical, we may use an ETF, and we'll explain why.
Who holds my assets?
Your assets are held in your own name at an independent custodian, Fidelity, not by Commons Capital. You receive statements directly from the custodian.
